ENGL 408 - Writing for Secondary Teachers

A writing course for students preparing to teach in various disciplines in secondary schools. Students develop their skills as writers and learn how to teach writing in all content areas. Special focus on recent composition research, theory, and practices, and on strategies, materials and evaluation techniques.

Credit Hours: 3 hrs
Prerequisites:  ,   and admission to the Initial Teacher Preparation Program or permission of the instructor. Note: 10-hour practicum required - see instructor.
Graduate Credit: This is an undergraduate course available to graduate students for graduate credit.

Course Revisions: This course will have a title change from “Writing for Writing Teachers” to “Writing for Secondary Teachers,” effective Winter 2013. The revision also includes a course description change and a prerequisite change from “ENGL 300W , ENGL 328W  and admission to the Initial Teacher Preparation Program.
