Program Application

New students enter the program annually in the fall semester. The Fall 2021 application cycle opens November 1, 2020, and the multiple-step process closes on January 17, 2021.

The following are the minimum requirements for an application to be reviewed and evaluated by the Dietetics Program Admission Review Committee. Applicants must meet all admissions requirements to have an opportunity for admission. Merely meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee progression to the interview stage of the admissions process or acceptance into the Dietetics Program.

Multiple Step Process

  1. Dietetics Intent applicant will initiate the process by completing Reference Form and provide a non-refundable $35 processing fee prior to January 4, 2021 (see Processing Fee).
  2. Dietetics intent applicant will complete Prerequisite Form once, with all courses and final grades reported, no later than January 4, 2021.
  3. Dietetics intent applicant will provide all transcripts to the Office of Records and Registration (emich.edu/registrar) no later than January 8, 2021.
  4. Once eligibility is determined, the applicant can expect to receive a link via email to the Kira Talent check-in page between January 4 and January 8, 2021.
  5. Applicants will have approximately one week to complete the electronic upload of The Program Application includes three parts (as detailed below), including  Document A and Document B, and then complete the recorded and timed video interview. This part of the application allows program faculty to get to know the applicant and their thinking when asked a series of questions. Please note you will need a computer with a webcam and microphone for this assessment.
  6. The applicant must complete the Kira Talent Platform-required application by January 17, 2021, at 11:59 pm, EST, or until all available spots are filled, for consideration for entrance into the Coordinated Program Fall semester 2021.

Eligibility Requirements

A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 is required to apply, including all previous college-level courses. If a student does not meet the 2.75 minimum overall/cumulative GPA requirement, they are not automatically ineligible to apply. They may retain eligibility by carrying a prerequisite-courses GPA (pre-application courses only) of 3.5 or higher.

A minimum pre-application prerequisite GPA of 3.0 is required for eligibility to apply. This comprises the five to six pre-application prerequisite phase courses.

A screening procedure is used for cohort selection that evaluates:

  • GPA - Cumulative & Prerequisite Courses
  • Two Reference Forms
  • Personal statement
  • Answers to application questions
  • Overall application
  • Online assessment through Kira Talent Platform
  • Committee input

Based on accreditation and the availability of supervised practice experience sites, the CP limits the number of students admitted to each class.
