New students enter the program annually in the fall semester. To apply to start fall 2021, the application cycle opens November 1, 2020, and the multiple-step process closes on January 17, 2021.
The following are the minimum requirements for an application to be reviewed and evaluated by the Dietetics Program Admission Review Committee. All admissions requirements must be met to have an opportunity for admission. Simply meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee progression to the interview stage of the admissions process or acceptance into the Dietetics Program.
Multiple Step Process
- Dietetics Intent applicant will initiate the process by completing Reference Form and provide a non-refundable $35 processing fee prior to January 4, 2021(see Processing Fee).
- Dietetics intent applicant will complete Prerequisite Form once, with all courses and final grades reported, no later than January 4, 2021.
- Dietetics intent applicant will provide all transcripts to the Office of Records and Registration emich.edu/registrar no later than January 8, 2021.
- Once eligibility is determined, the applicant can expect to receive a link via email to the Kira Talent check-in page between January 4 and January 8, 2021.
- Applicants will have approximately one week to complete the electronic upload of The Program Application includes three parts (as detailed below), including Document A and Document B, and then complete the recorded and timed video interview. This part of the application allows program faculty to get to know the applicant and their thinking when asked a series of questions. Please note you will need a computer with a webcam and microphone for this assessment.
- The applicant must complete the Kira Talent Platform-required application by January 17, 2021, at 11:59 pm, EST, or until all available spots are filled, for consideration for entrance into the Coordinated Program Fall semester 2021.
Eligibility Requirements
A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 is required to apply, including all previous college-level courses. If a student does not meet the 2.75 minimum overall/cumulative GPA requirement, they are not automatically ineligible to apply. They may retain eligibility by carrying a prerequisite courses GPA (pre-application courses only) of 3.5 or higher.
A minimum pre-application prerequisite GPA of 3.0 is required for eligibility to apply. This comprises the five to six pre-application prerequisite phase courses.
A screening procedure is used for cohort selection that evaluates:

- Personal statement

Based on accreditation and the availability of supervised practice experience sites, the CP limits the number of students admitted to each class.

Part I - Document A

|
Provide an up-to-date resume (template ). The resume template is meant to guide applicants and is not required.

Section #2: Volunteer Verification
|
Applicants for the Coordinated Program in Dietetics (CP) are required to complete a minimum of 24 hours of volunteering at a venue or venues of their choice, preferably related to nutrition, food or health care. These hours must be completed post-high school, and most occur within five years of applying. Please include documentation of all volunteer hours completed (Volunteer Form ).

This section is ONLY for distance-online applicants
Provide documentation showing you’ve secured all required Supervised Practice Experience preceptors to apply for year one of the program. Please provide all of the information listed in the Preceptor Summary Form for the four preceptors secured for year 1 in the program and year two final Nutrition Therapy III Experience.

Part III - Timed Video and Written Assessment

After uploading Document A (.pdf) and Document B (pdf.) to the online application, applicants will access the timed writing, and video recorded parts of the online application. These parts will also be accessed through the link sent to the applicant, and there will be an opportunity to practice using the Kira Talent platform prior to the final, recorded video.
This part of the program application allows program faculty to better get to know the applicant. Applicants can expect to be asked a series of questions about their motivations for applying to the program, as well as other pertinent information.
Please note that a computer with a webcam and microphone are needed for this assessment.
