Component 4 - Q and A, Processing Fee, References Form, Prerequisite Form, and Transcripts

The Dietetics application cycle is annual, starting in late fall/early winter, with a program beginning in Summer I (early May) for accepted students.

  1. Applicants are strongly encouraged to attend a Zoom Dietetics Application Q and A session before applying. These will be provided each fall semester, in October. Applicants must email dieteticsms_advising@emich.edu to receive a session link. Access to sessions is granted only to those who have requested a link.
  2. Applicants initiate the process by providing a non-refundable $35 processing fee (ebill.emich.edu). This can be paid beginning November 1, 2022, and no later than January 4, 2023.
  3. After completing, at a minimum, the pre-application prerequisite courses, the applicant completes the Reference Form. The Reference Form must be completed between November 1, 2022, and January 4, 2023. It is recommended that this step be completed as soon as possible, to allow applicant reference providers adequate time to complete the Reference Form (before January 4, 2023).  On this form, the applicant provides the contact information for two references. The listed references are e-mailed a reference form (no letter will be requested) from dietetics_application@emich.edu to complete and return. Completed reference forms must be received at EMU no later than January 17, 2023. Reference providers must be professional or academic (references from family members or friends will not be reviewed) and should be chosen based on their ability to assess multiple characteristics, including:
    • Handling stressful situations
    • Independent work
    • Organizational skills
    • Leadership
    • Flexibility/ability to adapt to new situations
    • Emotional maturity
    • Ethical behavior/compassion for others
    • Interpersonal skills
    • Time management
    • Oral communication
    • Written communication
    • Effective problem-solving/critical thinking
    • Commitment
    • Self-motivation
    • Intellectual capacity/scholastic ability
  4. Applicants complete the Prerequisite Form ONCE between November 1, 2022, and January 4, 2023, with all courses and final grades reported. The Prerequisite Form requires the applicant to list the course number, title, university; year completed, credit hours, and the final grade for each prerequisite course. Failure to complete this form will disqualify an applicant.  Applicants must indicate where they are completing the pre-admission courses and the planned completion date.  If courses are not completed by May 1, 2023, the applicant will forfeit a spot in the Program and are typically not eligible for a 2023 start, however, depending on circumstances, they may be added to the waitlist for re-evaluation if a spot opens or they may re-apply for next year. Failure to complete ALL pre-program courses by May 1st will result in losing a spot in the program.
  5. All official transcripts from colleges/universities other than EMU must be on file with the EMU Office of Records and Registration no later than January 9, 2023. Applicants must email unofficial transcript(s) to dieteticsms_advising@emich.edu by January 9, 2023, if an unavoidable delay occurs. Transcript submission options: Option 1 transcripts_admissions@emich.edu Option 2 Office of Admissions, Eastern Michigan University, P.O Box 970, Ypsilanti, MI 48197.
