Component 4 - Program Application

Application Process Review (please read carefully)

The EMU CP is an accredited program, which students start as a cohort in May of each year. For a Summer 2025 start, the application cycle begins on November 1, 2024, and the multiple-step application process closes on January 15, 2025, at 11:59 pm EST. Applicants are notified of admission status on or before March 15 (or the following Monday if the 15th lands on the weekend). We highly recommend that applicants attend a Zoom session for Dietetics Application Info Session with Q and A before submitting their application. These sessions will be provided each October. To gain access to a session, email dieteticsms_advising@emich.edu by the end of September to request a link (this is the only way to be granted entry).

Please be aware that EMU closes for a week to ten days between the fall and winter semesters. Remember this when determining your application timeline, as advisors and other EMU employees/faculty will not be available during this closure.

The screening procedure that is used for committee applicant review and cohort selection includes the following:

  • GPA - cumulative and pre-application prerequisite courses
  • Two references
  • Personal statement
  • Answers to application questions
  • Completion of volunteer work (24 hours) - see form for details
  • Overall application
  • Online assessment (verbal and written) through the Kira Talent platform
  • Application review committee input

The following are the minimum requirements for an application to be reviewed and evaluated by the Dietetics Program Admission Review Committee. All admissions requirements must be met to have an opportunity for admission. However, meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance into the Dietetics Program, as there may be fewer spots available than there are applicants.

Please note that some application pieces have different due dates.  Reach out with questions to dieteticsms_advising@emich.edu if you have questions.

Processing Fee and Reference Form

Applicants initiate the process by providing a non-refundable $35 processing fee (ebill.emich.edu). The processing fee must be paid between November 1, 2024, and January 3, 2025, 11:59 pm EST.

The Reference Form must be completed between November 1, 2024, and January 3, 2025, 11:59 pm EST. It is recommended that this step be completed as soon as possible to allow applicant reference providers adequate time to complete the Reference Form. On this form, the applicant provides the contact information for two references. The listed references are e-mailed a reference form (no letter will be requested) from dietetics_application@emich.edu to complete and return. Completed forms from references are due no later than January 15, 2025, at 11:59 pm EST. Reference providers must be professional or academic (references from family members or friends will not be reviewed) and should be chosen based on their ability to assess multiple characteristics, including:

  • Leadership
  • Flexibility/ability to adapt to new situations
