Component 4- Program Application


Application Process Review (please read carefully)

The EMU CP is an accredited program, which students start as a cohort in May of each year. All applicants will process their applications through DICAS (Dietetics Inclusive Centralized Application Service)

● Important Dates:

○  August 5, 2026:  EMU’s DICAS application opens. 

○  Tuesday, August 11, 2026 from  2 pm - 3 pm EST or Wednesday, October 7, 2026  from 12 – 1 pm EST:  Two optional but suggested live, Zoom EMU DICAS application sessions

○  January 19, 2027 - EMU DICAS Application Due Date

○  January 31, 2027 - For invited applicants, Kira Talent Recorded Interview Due Date (individual link provided to top candidates via email by January 22, 2027)

○  By March 1, 2027 – Applicants notified of acceptance status to the EMU CPD

○  March 10, 2027:   Applicants must inform EMU of their decision for acceptance, or not, by this date.

 

Applicants who have been in communication with Sandy Pernecky, Dietetics MS Advisor, and/or Nick Pomante, Clinical Coordinator, and/or have attended an EMU Dietetics application Zoom session may request a coupon code for DICAS.

The following are the minimum requirements for an application to be reviewed and evaluated by the Dietetics Program Admission Review Committee.

Applicants must meet all minimum requirements for the opportunity of admission to EMU; however, meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance into the Dietetics Program, as there may be fewer spots available than there are applicants.

 

Materials you will need for the DICAS (Dietetics Inclusive Centralized Application Services) application include:

●      Current resume

●      Two professional references*     

●     A one-to-two-page letter of personal introduction and professional intent (personal statement). Include the following information in your letter: 

Following the business letter format, address the letter to the program co-directors. Include the following information in the personal statement:

1.     Describe your reasons for selecting dietetics as a profession.

2.     Describe why you think you will be an effective dietitian.

3.     Why is EMU your school of choice?

●      Be sure to download and complete the following forms, to then upload in the EMU CPD program materials requirements, within DICAS:

  ○      Physical and Mental Requirements form

  ○      If applying as an online- distance student, please complete the following forms and upload to the program materials section of DICAS:

NOTE: GRE is not required

*Reference providers are asked to provide a reference letter and additionally complete a form.  They must be professional or academic (references from family members or friends will not be reviewed) and should be chosen based on their ability to assess multiple characteristics, including:

●      Handling stressful situations

●      Working independently

●      Organizational skills

●      Leadership

●      Flexibility/ability to adapt to new situations

●      Emotional maturity

●      Ethical behavior/compassion for others

●      Interpersonal skills

●      Time management

●      Oral communication

●      Written communication

●      Effective problem-solving/critical thinking

●      Self-motivation

●      Intellectual capacity/scholastic ability

Gain Access to Kira Talent & Submit Remaining Application Materials:

  • By January 22, 2027:  Applicants can expect to receive a link to the Kira Talent check-in page via email. If you have not received the email by January 22nd, please check your Spam/Junk folder, and if you still can not find it, contact dieteticsms_advising@emich.edu.
  • Sunday, January 31, 2027, at 11:59 pm EST:  The Kira Talent platform-required application is due. Applications submitted after this date/time may be considered if spots remain in the CP.

 

Prerequisite Approval Form

Prerequisite Approvals (if needed): Documented approval by an EMU Advisor for prerequisite courses taken at an institution other than EMU must be included (a Prereq Review Form or Program of Study are acceptable documents).

 

Timed Video and Written Assessment via Kira Talent Platform

This portion of the program application provides the review committee with an opportunity to get to know the applicant better. Applicants can be asked questions about their motivations for applying to the program and other pertinent information. Please note that a webcam and microphone are needed for this assessment.

On the Kira Talent platform, applicants can access the online application’s timed written and video-recorded components. Applicants will access these components through the person-specific Kira link sent to them via email.
