DTC 422 - Nutrient Metabolism: Micronutrients


This course will explore the role of vitamins and minerals in basic biochemical pathways. The role of the micronutrients in these pathways will be integrated with nutritionally relevant physiological processes such as macronutrient metabolism, bone and collagen metabolism, erythropoiesis and gene expression.

Credit Hours: 3 hrs
Prerequisite:  ; department permission
Class Restrictions: Junior, Senior, and Second Bacc.
Major Restrictions: Only students in the Dietetics Major (IDTC)   and M.S. in Dietetics programs can enroll in this course.

Students will examine their role(s) in energy producing pathways, in deficiencies, and disease states. Students will examine the toxic effects of consuming excess vitamins and minerals.
