CHEM 451 - Biochemistry I Chemistry of biologically significant compounds such as proteins, nucleic acids, carbohydrates and lipids. Enzymes are introduced, bioenergetics is discussed and the most central topics of metabolism are outlined. This course is intended as a one-semester survey of biochemistry for health science students and as the first semester of a two-semester sequence for chemistry, biology and toxicology students.
