ESSC 347 - Methods for Teaching Secondary Earth Science This class will introduce the student to the techniques of teaching laboratory-centered earth science, science content standards, hands-on activities, demos, laboratory organization and safety in the classroom, projects, assessments, writing in science, technology, and presentation skills. As a requirement for teacher certification, the preservice teacher should leave the class prepared to student teach in earth science, geology and physical geography.
Credit Hours: 3 hrs Prerequisite: and ; Admission to the College of Education and the Initial Teacher Preparation Program Major Restrictions: Secondary Education Earth Science Major or Minor or Secondary Education Integrated Science Comprehensive Group Major students only Terms Offered: Winter
Notes: Not open to students on academic probation. Students majoring in Earth Science must take ESSC347; students only have the choice of a methods class if they are an Integrated Science Major.
