TM 314W - A Socio-Technical Systems Approach to Process Improvement (GEWI) The purpose of this course is to describe an approach to process improvement that integrates technical aspects of industrial engineering with social psychological dimensions of work processes. The course will delineate ideas for strategically incorporating technology levers into plans for improving work processes on an individual and work group level.

TM 314W A Socio-Technical Systems Approach to Process Improvement is a writing intensive course designed to equip Technology Management graduates with those writing skills which are peculiar to the goals and directives peculiar to process improvement. As our graduates move into the workplace they will find themselves writing documents intended for both internal and external audiences, such as procedure and policy papers, white papers (or other authoritative reports), interdepartmental memos, business letters, professional emails and written proposals. Graduates will not only be expected to have a working knowledge of the syntactical standards for such documents, but also with the structure and conventions that said documents will be expected to satisfy. In TM 314W you will learn to tailor your writing to meet the demands and expectations of specific audiences, research topics that are relevant to the field, and build and deliver persuasive arguments relating to process improvements.
