COUN 100L4 - Career Exploration and Decision-Making | GELB


Self-exploration (values, interests, goals) as it relates to careers and the world of work. Presentation in an experimental format of career exploration and personal decision-making strategies and processes. Investigation of career planning and resources (people and materials).

This is an introduction course in career exploration and decision-making.  The purpose is to gain an overview of the world of work and to use reflective and structured methods of self-discovery to achieve a tentative career choice.  This course provides students the opportunity to consider their interests and goals in order to help in planning a rewarding career as one pursues their degree at Eastern Michigan University. 

Career Exploration and Decision Making provides students with the knowledge, resources, and strategies for making career and professional decisions.  Students will learn about professional opportunities connected to their academic interests (historic preservation, counseling, nursing marketing, information technology, etc.) through experiential assignments and class discussions.  Various decision-making strategies and goal setting exercises also will be explored.
