CTAT 345 - American Film Genres This course examines key American film genres, both past and present, identifies their unique narrative and stylistic properties and shows their important economic, social, psychological and symbolic functions. Genres to be considered include westerns, musicals, horror films, science fiction films, the “woman’s” film, detective films, African American films and sequels.
