HIST 319 - The Civil Rights Movement in the United States Focusing on the 20th-century history of the African American struggle for equality, this course examines the rise of de jure racial segregation as a social system; the origins and early history of the Civil Rights movement; the movement’s development from the 1920s through the 1950s and its historic victories over segregation in the 1950s and 1960s.
