HIST 349 - South Africa, 1500-Present Examines the evolution of a multi-racial society: the Khoisan foragers, Bantu agro-pastoralists, European colonists, mixed blood “coloreds” and Asian indentured immigrants. Explores capitalists development and race relations arising from the mineral revolution of the late 19th century. The emergence and operations of the policies of segregation and apartheid are covered completely.
