LITR 150 - Humanity and Technology


A brief study of distinctive and influential perceptions of the impact of technology on human values just after the first Industrial Revolution, with critical emphasis on problems concerning the use of special, refined technologies. Primary readings from Thoreau, Mark Twain, Henry Adams, Aldous Huxley, Lewis Mumford and Garrett Hardin. This course satisfies one literature requirement.
