LITR 362 - Studies in African American Literature This course will examine the development of the African American literary tradition from its beginnings as an oral and aural art to tests written in the 21st century. Emphasis will be on the literary movements which define the tradition. Students will become conversant with the theory, critical terminology, historical contexts and interpretive practices relevant to the study of African American literature.
