To be able to communicate in Spanish and appreciate linguistic and cultural similarities and differences, SPNH 121L5 students learn to produce through speaking and writing, and to understand through reading and listening, the elements of the Spanish language necessary to be able to function at a basic level in a Spanish-speaking environment. Instruction in SPNH 121L5 provides examples of speaking and writing that native speakers use to accomplish real tasks; students learn to master theses structures while developing a new perspective on their own language, and an appreciation of a foreign cultural viewpoint.
