PHIL 355W - Philosophy of Law [GEWI] A consideration of philosophical questions about the law such as: What sorts of behavior should be illegal? What is punishment supposed to accomplish? When are we justified in punishing a person? How do judges arrive at decisions? Are there really legal principles that cover all the hard cases judges must deal with or do they use their own personal moral values? What is a legal system and how does it differ from a moral code?
