The visual arts communicate, express, record, capture, affect, and reflect the world around us. The knowledge of how and why art has been created, how art relates to history and contemporary culture, and an understanding of creative processes are an important part of any student’s general education program. This course allows students to become familiar with the visual arts and the artistic process through an in-depth exploration of a single media (oil painting) and the tools/concepts associated with it.
