AFC 506 - Advanced Studies in African Civilization The course is designed as an in-depth and critical study of key centers of African Civilization from antiquity to the 1960s. The student will also learn about certain fundamental ancient African cultural commonalities, albeit in the midst of linguistic and other kinds of diversity. While the course critically examines a cross-section of studies about cross-cultural influences between African civilization and other civilizations, the students will also investigate the nature of lingering controversies about the authenticity of an African antiquity.
