SPLI 550 - Learning Disabilities: Application Issues and Theory


This course introduces students to the fields of learning disabilities and other mild disabilities: history, terminology, etiology, and psycho-neurological processing. This course presents the theoretical basis for providing appropriate educational services for students with learning disabilities and/or other mild disabilities. Additionally, this course will present in-depth information on processing skills and will provide practical skills for identifying the link between academic strengths and weaknesses. This course exposes students to a variety of service delivery models and provides opportunities to observe individuals with learning disabilities and/or other mild disabilities in three different classroom settings to equal 30 hours of observation.
