STAT 571 - Mathematical Statistics I: Probability Theory Set theory, Borel sets, Sigma field of events, probability measures on a sigma field, axioms, finite and countable spaces, random variables and distributions, functions of random vectors, derived distributions, generating and characteristic functions, limit theorems, modes of convergence, law of large numbers. Completion of courses in real analysis and calculus-based probability and statistics is assumed.
