GERN 221L5 - Intermediate German Reading [GEKH or GELB] This course consists of readings in German literature and civilization. Students who plan to continue in German should take GERN 233L5 concurrently with GERN 221L5, and GERN 234L5 concurrently with GERN 222L5 .

Rationale for Knowledge of the Disciplines - As a language course sequence, GERN 221L5 and GERN 222L5 are designed to strengthen and improve students’ language skills (speaking, reading, listening, and writing) at the appropriate level. The contents of the course enable students to develop an appreciation and understanding of other cultures (German-speaking countries of Europe), in the domains of literature, films, the arts, as well as linguistic, cultural, and societal differences. The students are expected to express their knowledge and understanding of these topics in German.
