ME 100 - Introduction to Engineering Students will be introduced to the Engineering field in this course through a series of lectures, group projects, and industry speakers. Part 1 of the course is a broad introduction to Engineering and Part 2 of the course focuses basic design and manufacturing processes. Course topics include: What is Engineering?, Engineeing Disciplines and Methods, Engineering Ethics, Technical Communication, Design processes (Brainstorming, orthographic views and drawing, pugh matrices, triple bottom line design), Manufacturing processes (material types and manufacturing, machine components, machining processes, shaping, casting/molding), and basic Computer Aided Drafting (CAD). Students will complete several homework assignments and two major group projects.
