SPGN 390 Measurement and Diagnosis in Special Education This course is required for all students majoring in special education. Students will learn about a wide variety of standardized and criterion-referenced tests and about their role in assessing intellectual capacity, academic achievement, socioemotional skills, adaptive behavior, and auditory and visual limitations of students with handicaps. The course will be taught in a lecture format. Students will look at and become familiar with a wide variety of commonly used tests. Cultural reactions, test bias, and limitations will be explored.

Prerequisites - SPGN 251 Other Restrictions - Passing “Checkpoint #1” of the Initial Teacher Preparation Program or admission to the Speech Pathology Professional Sequence is required for enrollment in this course. Restriction by Major - Restriction by Class - Junior standing or above
