CTAR 544 Critical Studies in Theatre History I An interrogation of culturally based historical trends in world theatre, from antiquity to 1642. Specific attention paid to theories of performance origins, production practice and style, theatre architecture, and dramatic literature and criticism. Students will examine primary and secondary source documents in an attempt to develop a cogent yet flexible notion of theatre’s historical development.
