PHIL 580 Philosophy of Science A systematic examination of the main philosophical problems raised by the results and methods of the physical and social sciences. Topics include the problem of meaning, measurement, the interpretation of probability statements, the justification of induction, the concept of cause, the laws of nature, description and explanation, determinism and in-determinism.
