PAS 710a Pediatric Medicine Clinical Rotation


The Pediatric Medicine clinical rotation stresses ambulatory/inpatient pediatric medicine, emphasizing common pediatric medical problems, psychosocial issues, and preventive care. The Pediatric Medicine rotation is designed to provide the student with a wide range of clinical experiences, including care of the neonate through teenage years. This course will provide the student with the basic skills necessary to build a solid foundation for evaluating, documenting, diagnosing, and treating problems encountered in general pediatric medicine. The student will develop proficiency in procedures commonly performed in a pediatric hospital or ambulatory setting. The primary learning methods will include direct hospital or ambulatory pediatric medicine care participation, observation, case presentations, and interaction with the clinical preceptor and other Healthcare professionals. The student is responsible for reading assigned by the preceptor. Students are primarily supervised by practicing physicians whom are specialty board certified in their area of instruction and/or PA-Cs teamed with the aforementioned physicians.
