The Obstetrics and Gynecological Medicine clinical rotation stresses hospital/ambulatory care, emphasizing common gynecologic/obstetric problems, care of the pregnant woman, psychosocial issues, preventive care, and an introduction to the OB/GYN provider role. This course provides the student with the skills necessary to build a solid foundation for evaluating, documenting, diagnosing, and treating common problems and routine care in a gynecology/obstetrical practice. The primary learning methods will come from participation in direct hospital/ambulatory gynecologic/obstetric care, observation, case presentations, and interaction with the clinical preceptor and other healthcare professionals. The student is responsible for reading assigned by the preceptor.
