PAS 710f Family Medicine Clinical Rotation


The Family Medicine clinical rotation stresses ambulatory primary care with an emphasis on common medical problems, psychosocial issues, preventive care, and an introduction to the role of the primary care provider. This course provides the student with the skills necessary to build a solid foundation for evaluating, documenting, diagnosing, and treating problems common in primary care/family medicine. The student will develop proficiency in office procedures commonly performed in a family medicine practice. The primary learning methods will be participation in direct outpatient family medicine care, observation, case presentations, and interaction with the clinical preceptor and other healthcare professionals. The student is responsible for reading assigned by the preceptor. Students will be primarily supervised by practicing physicians whom are specialty board certified in their area of instruction and/or PA-Cs teamed with the aforementioned physicians.
