GERN 560 Theory and Practice of German Translation


This course explores the theory and practical concepts of translating-specifically from German to English- using technologies, including learning how to translate from German to English, using up-to-date translation program software and learning about the translation industry. Includes German and English grammar review; how to maintain second-language skills and how to find work with agencies and companies. Co-taught GERN 460, however graduate students are reading additional material and complete additional translation exercises (graded). Open to students in the MA-German and MA-LIT (German) programs or an Oral Proficiency Interview rating of “Advanced Low.”
