HIST 558 Africa Since 1940 Detailed narrative and analysis of modern African history since 1940, set against the background of continuities and departures from the pre-colonial past. Core global themes: Post-Depression Recovery, World War II, Decolonization, and peculiar issues-Nation Building, Development and Disappointment, Continental Unity; and prospects for a Renaissance are covered completely. It ends with a gripping focus on Africa at the turn of the 20the Century, into the present.
