AMA 240 Managing the Creative Process [GEKA]

Managing the Creative Process develops creative thinking skills by exploring problems, developing ideas and generating multiple solutions to these problems. The course will prepare students to manage creative projects and organizations through strategic growth and change in a competitive and changing market place.

Rationale for Knowledge of the Disciplines - Managing the Creative Process is a course about developing and evaluating ideas for generating new and existing creative projects. The collaborative nature of the arts will be a critical focus of this course. Through class assignments and small group work themed around discovery, understanding, creation, testing, launching and reflection students will acquire basic knowledge and skills in the use of the vocabularies, materials, tools, techniques, and intellectual methods in multiple arts disciplines. Students will employ critical thinking skills to develop questions of inquiry that reflect an understanding of different disciplinary perspectives in the arts. This course empowers students to think creatively offering a systematic approach to developing solutions to any problem using fresh methods and often unorthodox solutions. During the semester students will study the historical development of the arts by exploring the relationship between content and form, develop the ability to evaluate work in an arts discipline and ultimately solve artistic problems. This course satisfies all the Student Learning Outcomes for Knowledge of the Disciplines - Arts.
