ECE 605 Foundations


This course examines the history of early childhood education in the United States, covering historical, philosophical, and sociological frameworks from the early 1800s until today. Program approaches, philosophies, and curricular models are considered in relation to research implications and societal needs. A focus on traditionally marginalized groups or topics in early childhood will be emphasized. Students will conduct interviews and program quality evaluations. Therefore, a minimum of ten clinical hours is required.

Credit 3 hrs May not be repeated for additional credit

Prerequisites -
Restriction by Major - Early Childhood Education [M.A.]  
Restriction by Degree Type - Graduate standing

Additional Information - The course may only fulfill Early Childhood Education [M.A.]  requirements if the student earns a “C” or above grade.
