This program is grounded in the creative and scholarly examination of the performing act. It is our belief that performance, whether based in the broad culture, aesthetics or everyday life, is the creative and expressive basis for understanding human action and interaction. Our mission is to provide courses and co-curricular activities that will engage students in a comprehensive, meaningful and rich process that culminates in explorations of performers, texts and contexts.

Admission Requirements
Applicants must:
- Meet the admission requirements for the Graduate School and be accepted into the program by the department;
- Have at least a minor or the equivalent in communication, theatre arts, or drama/theatre for the young;
- Have a minimum overall undergraduate GPA of 2.7 or 3.0 in the last half of undergraduate work; and
- In the case of international students, have a minimum TOEFL score (see the International Admissions website for minimum scores).

Program Requirements:
Students must:
- Early in their graduate work, prepare an official program of study in consultation with an assigned graduate advisor and file it with the Graduate School;
- Successfully meet all conditions stipulated upon entry into the program; and
- Complete, with an overall GPA of at least 3.0, a minimum of 30 hours of approved course work as identified in the official Program of Study.

Master of Arts in Theatre Arts with a Concentration in Interpretation and Performance Studies
All Master of Arts in Theatre Arts programs require the completion of 30 hours of course work to be distributed among required courses and elective courses as follows:
Required Core Courses: 7-9 hours
Catalog Correction: CTAC 690, 691, 692 should be CTAR 690 , 691 , 692
Core Concentration Requirements: 12 hours
One course from the following:
Elective Courses: 9-11 hours
Additional courses selected in consultation with academic advisor based upon student’s individual needs. Program Total: 30 - 32 hours
