This unique certificate program is designed to develop the competencies of community leaders, professionals and staff of nonprofit organizations in leadership, resource development and program evaluation; in understanding the community as a complex system; in understanding their organizations’ potential for civic action; and in understanding how to improve the capacity of their community organizations to meet their missions and strengthen the community.
The program also has an external focus: to develop competencies for understanding the community as a social system and improving the social bonds and leadership skills among members of the community.

Admission Requirements:
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Complete a Graduate Application
- Submit official transcripts from all previously attended colleges/universities (EMU alums do no need to request official transcripts).
- Earned a four-year baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution, or an equivalent degree from a non-U.S. institution.
- A minimum cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale, or 3.0 in the last half of the undergraduate program.
Students with non-U.S. post-secondary credentials must submit an evaluation of their international transcripts from the Educational Perspectives (EP) credential evaluation service. Click here for additional information.
