The Bachelor of Science in English Language gives you the opportunity to explore different aspects of the English language, with courses in Linguistics, Written Communications, and Journalism.
Learn
The major is designed for students who are interested in English, but maybe not entirely sure what aspect of the language arts they want to focus on. The major thus offers a diverse range of curricular options focused on Linguistics (with study of the structure, use, and history of English), on Written Communication (with study of the many diverse aspects of the practice and profession of writing), and with the option of Journalism (with study of research, reporting writing, and copyediting).
Opportunities
While pursuing this degree, students are encouraged to be involved in research on a topic of their choosing, often culminating with a presentation at the Undergraduate Research Symposium. We fully support the Honors College, with opportunities for support of Honors research projects and theses.
