Opportunities
While pursuing this degree, students are invited to be involved in linguistics research on a topic of their choosing. Such research is done with the caring mentorship of a faculty member and often culminates with a presentation at the Undergraduate Research Symposium and/or a regional or national linguistics conference. We fully support the Honors College, with opportunities for support of Honors research projects and theses. Our program has many strong ties with local linguistics programs, and we encourage active student participation in such activities as discussion groups and workshops. There are also opportunities to work with faculty on linguistics projects, including the Jewish Life and Language in Southeast Michigan research project, plus many other opportunities in all fields of linguistics.
We’ve placed students in leading Ph.D. programs in Linguistics (and other fields).
