Construction Management [M.S.]

This is a designated STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) program.

 

Program Admission


Students must meet the following criteria:

  1. Admission to the Graduate School
  2. A minimum 2.7 Grade Point Average (or equivalent) in their undergraduate degree. Candidate transcripts from non-USA institutions are evaluated by Education Perspective, and equated into the 4.0 GPA system.
  3. The GRE and GMAT entrance exams are not required for the MSCM nor graduate certificate programs.
  4. A personal statement.
  5. Non-native English students will need to take appropriate “English as a Second Language” (ESL) exam and score at the acceptable graduate student level. These ESL scores are:  TOEFL score of 213 (CBT), 550 (PBT), 79 (iBT) or higher; MELAB score of 77 or higher; IELTS score of 6.5 or higher. Foreign students who do not score at this level are required to take appropriate ESL courses as a condition of their acceptance.
  6. All students pursuing the MSCM degree need to have completed an undergraduate / bachelor degree or certificate in a construction related discipline, such as, Construction Technology, Civil Engineering, Architecture, etc. The candidate’s undergraduate degree should include college level courses covering construction fundamentals, estimating, scheduling, construction technology, contracts, and construction management

Students without the requisite bachelor degree or do not have a construction background, and whom have a keen interest in pursuing the MSCM degree, are encouraged to consider the Construction [Graduate Certificate]  as appropriate preparation. The 18 credit hours of graduate level courses completed for the CCNS are directly transferable to the MSCM degree.

Alternatively, if the CCNS path is not appropriate, the student may choose to complete the undergraduate construction management courses that incorporate the required background requirements. These courses include:

Degree Requirements: 36-38 hours


The Master of Science in Construction Management program requires the completion of 36-38 hours of coursework to be distributed among required core courses and elective courses.

Project Management Cognate: 6-8 hours


Six to eight hours from the following

Students must complete a minimum of 14 hours split between the Construction Management Elective Courses and Project Management Cognate

Capstone: 4-6 hours


Choose one of the following two options:

Option I - Development Project: 4 hours


Option II - Thesis: 6 hours
