Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Programs by Program Type

This 36-credit-hour program provides a flexible and innovative graduate-level experience for students whose educational or professional goals are not met by other graduate degree programs at Eastern Michigan University. An Interdisciplinary Studies academic program is interdisciplinary and reflects knowledge cultivation in an emerging field. Students in this program will work with at least two faculty in programs of interest and confirm the commitment of at least two faculty members to serve as interdisciplinary program advisors.

Due to the unique nature of this degree, prior to admission to the Interdisciplinary Studies Program (IDS), students will contact the Graduate School to set up a meeting with two or more IPS faculty advisors and a Graduate School representative to design a program of study that meets degree requirements. The IDS program of study must be developed and approved by the Graduate School before a student’s first semester in the IDS program.
