Revised Program [Fall 2022]
The Special Education Minor is a non-teaching special education program for students who are pursuing careers in health and human service fields that may require them to work with individuals with disabilities such as communication sciences and disorders, nursing, occupational therapy, recreation, psychology, criminal justice and safety, and social work. Also, this special education minor program may be of special interest to elementary and secondary teaching majors who may teach in inclusive general education classrooms.
This minor program does not require admission to the Initial Teacher Preparation Program and does not lead to a teaching endorsement in special education. This program is open to any major on campus except special education.
Potential candidates for the program: majors in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Social Work, Health, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Children and Families, Elementary-Early Childhood Teaching and Learning, and Teaching and Learning with Secondary Certification.
