Program Objective
Students will obtain curricular knowledge in foundational courses necessary for successful participation in their chosen graduate program as assigned by their Graduate Program Advisor/Coordinator.
|
Program Admission
Applicants will apply to their desired graduate program. If they do not have sufficient curricular background or do not have the required minimum grade point average, the Graduate Program Advisor/Coordinator can recommend admission to the Graduate Studies Academic Pathway.
Only students who do not meet the regular graduate admission requirements are eligible for admission to the Graduate Studies Academic Pathway Program (See Regular Admission Requirements).
Applicants who qualify for the Graduate Studies Academic Pathway will be contacted to confirm admission to the Pathway program. Upon acceptance by the applicant, the Office of Admissions, or the Office of International Admissions for international students requiring F-1 visas, will “withdraw” the degree application in Banner and build the student’s Graduate Studies Academic Pathway record in Banner.
The Graduate Advisor will monitor progress in the Pathway program. When the student has completed the Pathway requirements, the Graduate Advisor will notify the Office of Admissions or, in the case of international students with F-1 visas, the Office of International Admissions, to reactivate the student’s degree application. The student will not have to apply again. For international students with an F-1 visa, the Office of International Admissions will notify the Office of International Students and Scholars, who will issue a new I-20 to the student with the degree program listed.
Pathway Requirements: 16 hours
This program consists of 16 credits on the main campus, can be taken over two consecutive semesters and will be courses specified by the graduate program coordinator. (Some students may be eligible to complete the program in one semester, with approval from their Graduate Advisor/Coordinator.)
The Graduate Advisor/Coordinator of the intended degree program may advise foundational or other courses and require the student to achieve a prescribed grade or GPA to demonstrate academic readiness to continue in the full degree program. Graduate level credits in the intended program of study earned in the Pathway program may apply to credits required in the degree program.
