Program Admission
Admit Terms and Deadlines
Rolling admissions begin on November 1 and end on February 1. Applications received after February 1 will be reviewed on a space-available basis until the final admission deadline of April 15. All steps must be completed and admission requirements met for your application to be reviewed by the school.
Minimum Graduate School Requirements
Applicants must have a minimum cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and be previously admitted to the undergraduate portion of the combined program.
Applicants must confirm with their advisor that they have completed enough undergraduate credits before applying to the graduate portion of the program. A student must complete a minimum of 120 credit hours before being fully admitted to the graduate portion of the program.
Program Requirements
Applicants must meet the following program requirements:
- 75 credit hours completed before application/portfolio submission.
- 90 credit hours completed before the AT program Summer I semester. If 90 credit hours are not completed by application submission, include a plan to demonstrate how it will be met.
- A minimum of a 3.00 overall GPA is required.
- All general education courses must be completed before starting the Athletic Training Program (Summer I semester). General Education courses can be taken during a portfolio review during the winter semester.
- Applicants must have earned a “C” or better in a course in the following areas or provide documentation of credential (Course Completion Form):
- Documentation of 30 observation hours with an ATC. A majority of these hours are acquired in ATTR 300W . During your observation, you cannot represent yourself as an EMU “athletic training student;” you are applying to get into the Athletic Training Program. Applicants will document hours using a provided form that an ATC must sign with a BOC and state license numbers.
- Volunteer form
- Two professional or academic references. The contact details of the references will be shared through ATCAS.

Application
Your application will be submitted using ATCAS, a Centralized Application Service (CAS) hosted by Liaison. After reviewing the admission requirements, please review the application instructions and start your application.
Domestic Applicants Within the application, follow the instructions to submit an official transcript from all previously attended institutions.
International Applicants Before applying, applicants must review the international application/process deadlines at emich.edu/international as they may differ from general program requirements.

Undergraduate Degree -
The requirements listed below will appear on a student’s undergraduate transcript.
According to university policy, students must earn a minimum of 120 credit hours at the 100-level or above for a bachelor’s degree. Completing this combined program’s minimum credit hour total (Undergrad + Grad) will likely require students to complete more than 120 credit hours as an undergraduate.
Graduate Degree -
The requirements listed below will appear on a student’s graduate transcript.
Students must ensure they have completed the necessary graduate credit hours that, when combined with those taken as an undergraduate, equal or exceed the minimum number of credit hours required for this combined program. Sometimes, a student may need additional coursework beyond the minimum requirements listed below to meet the total hour requirement.
