Location(s): In-person/hybrid

The GTAC program integrates geographic information sciences/systems (GIS), aerial photography, and remotely sensed imagery from space-aircraft-drone technologies to empower students for high-in-demand professional careers. The combined geospatial information technologies (GIST) are among the fastest growth of all sectors of the economy (e.g., environmental management and science, engineering and design, geo-intelligence and homeland security, facility and asset management, marketing and location-based services, telecommunications, transportation, etc.). GTAC introduces geospatial foundation knowledge, basic skills, and problem-solving abilities pertinent to current geospatial technology standards and job demands. Students will learn these employable technical and soft skills through realworld and hands-on internship projects at worksites. The occupational opportunity for GIST technologists and technicians is classified as a ‘Bright Outlook’ by the Department of Labor (DOL) – Employment and Training Administration (ETA). Completing the GTAC program will provide students with more opportunities for paid summer internships, taking GIS professional certification and drone pilot license exams, and achieving GIST employment.
