The Dietetics application cycle is annual, starting in late fall/early winter, with a program beginning in Summer I (early May) for accepted students. We highly recommend that applicants attend a Zoom session for Dietetics Application Q and A before submitting their application. These sessions will be provided each fall. To gain access to a session, email dieteticsms_advising@emich.edu to request a link (this is the only way to be granted entry).
1) Applicants initiate the process by providing a non-refundable $35 processing fee (ebill.emich.edu). The processing fee must be paid between November 1, 2023, and January 3, 2024, 11:59 pm EST.
2) After completing, at a minimum, the pre-application prerequisite courses, the applicant completes the Reference Form. The Reference Form must be completed between November 1, 2023, and January 3, 2024, 11:59 pm EST. It is recommended that this step be completed as soon as possible to allow applicant reference providers adequate time to complete the Reference Form (before January 3, 2024).
On this form, the applicant provides the contact information for two references. The listed references are e-mailed a reference form (no letter will be requested) from dietetics_application@emich.edu to complete and return. Completed reference forms must be received at EMU no later than January 16, 2024, at 11:59 pm EST. Reference providers must be professional or academic (references from family members or friends will not be reviewed) and should be chosen based on their ability to assess multiple characteristics, including:
- Handling stressful situations
- Independent work
- Organizational skills
- Leadership
- Flexibility/ability to adapt to new situations
- Emotional maturity
- Ethical behavior/compassion for others
- Interpersonal skills
- Time management
- Oral communication
- Written communication
- Effective problem-solving/critical thinking
- Commitment
- Self-motivation
- Intellectual capacity/scholastic ability
3) Applicants complete the Prerequisite Form ONCE between November 1, 2023, and January 3, 2024, 11:59 pm EST, with all courses and final grades reported. The Prerequisite Form requires the applicant to list the course number, title, university, year completed, credit hours, and the final grade for each prerequisite course. Failure to complete this form will disqualify an applicant. Applicants must indicate where they complete the pre-admission courses and the planned completion date. If courses are not completed by May 1, 2024, the applicant will forfeit a spot in the Program and are typically not eligible for a 2024 start; however, depending on circumstances, they may be added to the waitlist for re-evaluation if a spot opens or they may re-apply for next year.
4) All official transcripts from colleges/universities besides EMU must be on file with the EMU Office of Records and Registration by January 8, 2024. Applicants must email unofficial transcript(s) to dieteticsms_advising@emich.edu by January 8, 2024, if an unavoidable delay occurs.
Transcript submission options:
