PSY 101 - General Psychology Lecture (GEKN)


Principles, theories, and methods evolving from the scientific analysis of behavior.

PSY 103  must be completed in addition to PSY 101 to satisfy four credits of the Knowledge of the Disciplines - Natural Science  portion of the General Education  program.

General Psychology Lecture and its required companion laboratory course (PSY 103 ) present basic principles of psychology that have been established by applications of the scientific method. They will also examine key historical developments that will help illustrate how knowledge and theories in science are dynamic. In the laboratory portion of the course, students generate data designed to provide an introduction to scientific discovery to demonstrate particular scientific principles, and how to reach conclusions based on controlled observations.

In this course, students will study basic principles of psychology that have been established by applications of the scientific method. They will also examine key historical developments that will help illustrate how knowledge and theories in science are dynamic. Students will generate data designed to demonstrate particular principles and how to reach conclusions based on controlled observations. Because of its focus on the scientific method and on applications of scientific methodology.
