HIST 349 - South Africa, 1500-Present

Examines the evolution of a multi-racial society: the Khoisan foragers, Bantu agro-pastoralists, European colonists, mixed blood “coloreds” and Asian indentured immigrants. Explores capitalists development and race relations arising from the mineral revolution of the late 19^th century. The emergence and operations of the policies of segregation and apartheid are covered completely.
