PLSC 307 - Democracy and Power An analysis of citizen democracy and its relation to the power and legitimacy of governments around the world, both past and present, using classic writings, current journalistic and scholarly literature. The focus will be on: the scope and limits of governmental power; socio-economic, racial, gender and regional inequalities; and challenges to democratic politics in time of war, mass media and virtual communication.
