SPHI 435 - Phonetics and Hearing Impairment Articulatory and acoustic phonetics. Speech reception of persons with hearing impairments: auditory cues available relative to the individual’s hearing loss; visual, tactile and kinesthetic correlates. Characteristics of speech production of speakers with impaired hearing. Phonetic transcription in International Phonetic Alphabet, Northampton, and Thorndike orthographic systems. Phonological level speech assessment.
