SET 102 World Wide Production: Global Impacts [GEGA] A course on the effects of globalization of the production of consumer products. Students will explore the production of selected common products in China, India, Uzbekistan, Cambodia, Brazil, and Pakistan. Students will consider the changing role of women, debt bondage, child labor, health and safety issues, and environmental degradation. These workforce issues are also entwined with immigration, trade agreements, natural resources, standards of living, and social/cultural systems.

Rationale for Perspectives on a Diverse World - In this course, students will investigate how global trade has and is changing the lives or people around the world. The course focuses on the production of several simple products (such as paperclips, candlesticks, blue jeans, bricks and charcoal) to learn about several countries and the conditions of life for the people who make these items. This knowledge will help students make informed decisions about global issues and will assist them in understanding the changing modern world.
